KaleidaGraph is available for both the Mac and Windows platforms via electronic download. Academic, government, and multi-user discounts are available. We also offer yearly licenses for academic institutions and 1-year licenses for students. See below for more information on the various types of licenses.
A single-user license allows KaleidaGraph to be installed and used on one computer. It may not be installed on multiple machines in the same location. If multiple machines require the software, a separate single-user license must be purchased for each computer.
Secondary Installation Allowance:
A primary user may install and run KaleidaGraph on more than one computer (e.g., a work computer and a home desktop or laptop), provided that:
The licensee is the only person using the software across all locations.
The software is never used simultaneously on more than one machine.
If additional individuals will access KaleidaGraph on any of these computers, separate single-user licenses or a network license must be acquired.
The concurrent user license model provides maximum flexibility for your organization. Network licenses are issued to a specific location and allow multiple regular or occasional users on a single local network to share access.
License Management & KeyServer Support The maximum number of simultaneous users depends on the seat count purchased. Organizations are responsible for maintaining a system to monitor license compliance. If your organization uses KeyServer, we offer a dedicated version of KaleidaGraph 5 with built-in KeyServer support. Please contact support@synergy.com to request the necessary installers and license file.

5- and 10-User Packs: Software can be installed on up to 5 or 10 computers, or used concurrently by up to 5 or 10 users at a time. Licenses may be transferred between computers, provided total installations or active users never exceed your purchased count.
Custom User Licenses: Need access for more than 10 users? Request a custom multi-user quote directly from Synergy Software.
Important Compliance Warning: Exceeding your concurrent seat maximum may result in the revocation of the entire organization license, which could interrupt active projects and ongoing work.
Registered users of previous KaleidaGraph versions are eligible for special upgrade pricing on major new software releases. Upgrades provide significant feature additions and are offered at a reduced cost compared to new standalone licenses.
Major Upgrades vs. Free Maintenance: Upgrades introduce major new functionality. Routine maintenance releases and minor updates remain free to registered users.
License Type Changes: Transitioning from a single-user to a multi-user license is not considered a standard software upgrade. For special transition pricing, please contact us at orders@synergy.com.

If you already own KaleidaGraph on one platform, you are eligible for a discounted crossgrade license to use the software on the other platform.
Windows to Mac: Purchase a Mac license at the crossgrade rate while retaining full ownership and upgrade rights for your Windows license.
Mac to Windows: Purchase a Windows license at the crossgrade rate while retaining full ownership and upgrade rights for your Mac license.
Government agencies that do not qualify as accredited educational institutions are eligible for a 10% discount off the commercial price.
Certified non-profit organizations that are not accredited educational institutions are also eligible for the 10% commercial discount. Please use the Government links or order form when placing your order to apply the discount.
This discount does not apply to upgrades or crossgrades.
Subscriptions are exclusively available to academic institutions. All subscription options are non-permanent licenses that must be renewed annually.
School-Wide Subscription: Designed for institution-wide deployment at a single physical location or campus (excludes remote branches or off-site offices). This license allows you to install and run the software on an unlimited number of computers within that specific location.
Departmental Subscription: Designed for a specific, discrete research group or department rather than an entire institution. To qualify, access must be restricted to members of that specific group—if any student or employee across the broader institution can access the software, it does not qualify. Note that broad terms like “Research Department” are too general for this license tier.
Minimum: 25 licenses required.

Upgrading After One Year:
When the 1-year term expires, students can contact our Sales Department to purchase a permanent, non-expiring license.
Purchasing Options for Schools
If your institution would like to purchase student licenses on their behalf, you can order in one of two ways:
Individual Purchases (Gift Orders):
Place separate online orders for each student. Enter your school’s billing details, check the Gift Purchase box in the shopping cart, and enter the individual student’s details as the delivery recipient.
Bulk Order (Group Distribution):
Adjust the quantity in the online shopping cart to buy in bulk. You can place separate orders for Mac and Windows based on your required totals. After purchasing, distribute the installer alongside a unique serial number and authorization code to each student.
Educational License Eligibility & Guidelines
Educational licenses for KaleidaGraph are exclusively reserved for non-commercial, officially accredited educational institutions—including universities, colleges, technical schools, and vocational programs—as well as their current faculty, research staff, and students.
Permitted Uses & Key Restrictions:
Approved Scope: Use is strictly restricted to teaching, academic research, and non-profit educational activities.
Commercial & Administrative Prohibitions: All commercial use (including for-profit training) and internal administrative functions are strictly prohibited under the educational license.
Proof of Eligibility & Verification:
By purchasing an educational license, you agree to provide written proof of eligibility upon request (e.g., official institutional documentation or employment status). If verification is requested and not provided, you will be billed the price difference for a standard commercial license.

Licensing Questions
Our single-user and 5/10 multi-user licenses are perpetual. There is no yearly subscription fee. The only cost in the future would be to optionally buy upgrades when they become available.
No, the 5 and 10-user licenses are all for the same platform. Depending on how many licenses you need, you may be able to buy a multi-user license for one platform and single-user licenses for the other.
It’s not technically an upgrade but you can roll existing single-user licenses into a multi-user license. Older licenses would need to be upgraded and additional licenses would need to be purchased to create the new multi-user license. The old serial numbers would be made inactive and replaced by a new single serial number.
The Mac and Windows versions are considered separate programs. You can purchase a crossgrade to get a copy of KaleidaGraph for a different platform. Your existing copy remains valid and can be upgraded in the future.
Yes you can. It would be best to use the original installer to get it installed on the new computer. Once it is up and running, you can uninstall it from the old computer.
The license agreement allows you to install the software on a work computer and a home or laptop computer, provided you are the only one using the software at any time, in any of these locations.
We have a special version of KaleidaGraph 5 that supports KeyServer. Please email support@synergy.com for more information on how to receive the installers and license file needed for KeyServer support.
