Apple is currently undergoing a transition from the PowerPC chips that currently power Mac systems to chips built by Intel. Intel Macs represent the next generation in processor design. The Intel Mac promises 4 times as much processing power as the traditional single processor. From a user perspective, an Intel-based Mac system will look just like a PowerPC-based system. Mac OSX is remaining the same; it's just the underlying processor that will be different.
What will happen to my current version of KaleidaGraph if I buy an Intel-based system?
Versions 3.6 and 4.0 of KaleidaGraph will run on an Intel Mac, but since KaleidaGraph is not using the native processor, it will probably run a bit slower.
Will I have to buy a future version of KaleidaGraph specifically to run on an Intel-based Mac?
We're sure you'll want to take advantage of KaleidaGraph at Intel speed. Our Intel version of KaleidaGraph will be shipping with our next release.
